Industrial air scrubbers are used to purify the exhaust air of pollutants, for example in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.  As soon as the exhaust air meets the legal requirements for clean gas values, it can be returned to the environment. Absorptive exhaust air purification by waste gas scrubbers is a frequently used technology.

Gas scrubbers are suitable for removing pollutants, aerosols and dust from the exhaust air. Especially water-soluble exhaust air components are separated with high efficiency.

The industrial air scrubbers from Wessel-Umwelttechnik have been successfully used in various industries for many years. They serve to separate different substances from the exhaust air. There is a wide range of pollutants that can be separated with Direct Chemical Sorption scrubbing technology. Its efficiencies are above 90 %. They include: NH3, HCI, HF, CH2O, H2S, SO2, as well as mercaptans, amines, ketones, aldehydes and alcohols. For a lot of applications, the DCS-scrubber technology became state-of-the-art.

Due to the automation of the industrial air scrubbers from Wessel-Umwelttechnik, the operating effort is reduced to a minimum. If necessary, absorbents (e.g. acid or caustic soda) are added automatically by means of pH value monitoring. Also the scrubber product is discharged automatically with the use of conductivity or density determination.

Exhaust scrubbers or absorptive exhaust air purification processes are proven technologies for removing pollutions in the exhaust air using additives (absorbents). The chemical scrubbers are tailor-made by Wessel-Umwelttechnik GmbH to the respective application. This applies, among other things, to the scrubber design, the selection of built-in components and the design of the pumps. This results in a high degree of efficiency, which ensures compliance with the legal requirements for clean gas values for various industries.

The absorptive exhaust air purification systems of Wessel-Umwelttechnik have a high level of operational safety and plant availability. Continuous monitoring of the system parameters ensures that any irregularities can be checked and adjusted immediately. Relevant system components can be designed redundantly. It is possible to equip the scrubbing systems with remote monitoring so that Wessel-Umwelttechnik can provide support at any time.

As usual for the cleaning systems from Wessel-Umwelttechnik, the industrial air scrubbers are also designed in a compact and space-saving modular construction/way. Subsequent installation in existing industrial systems is possible at any time. Retrofitting to increase the performance of existing exhaust air purification systems is feasible without much effort.

Wessel-Umwelttechnik relies on the DCS scrubber for chemical-absorptive exhaust air cleaning. For many companies and municipalities, this exhaust scrubber is a cost-effective and efficient solution to achieve the clean gas values of the TA Luft, WGC BREF and the 30th BlmSchV.

The aim of the chemical scrubber is to bring the exhaust air stream into contact with water droplets as comprehensively as possible. The pollutants are transferred from the gas phase into the water phase and subsequently get into the washing water. The so-called chemisorption is achieved through the use of absorbents (acids or caustic soda), i.e. the exhaust air components are converted into compounds that remain in the water phase. In order to prevent oversaturation of the water phase, scrubber product is automatically dispensed.

If smells are to be removed in addition to pollutants, combined systems consisting of gas scrubbers and biological filters or bio scrubbers are often the right choice.

Industrial air scrubbers are suitable for cleaning exhaust air in almost all branches of industry and municipal applications. The use of these scrubbers has proven successful in the following industrial sectors:

  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Semiconductor industry
  • Chemical industry
  • Paper and pulp industry
  • Wastewater treatment plants
  • Rubber industry
  • Rubber-processing industry
  • Textile industry
  • Wood material and furniture industry
  • Plastics processing industry
  • Mechanical-biological waste treatment
  • Sewage sludge treatment plants
  • Waste management industry
