Industrial air scrubbers are used to purify the exhaust air of pollutants, for example in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry. As soon as the exhaust air meets the legal requirements for clean gas values, it can be returned to the environment. There is a wide range of pollutants that can be separated with Direct Chemical Sorption scrubbing technology. Its efficiencies are above 90 %. They include: NH3, HCI, HF, CH2O, H2S, SO2, as well as mercaptans, amines, ketones, aldehydes and alcohols. For a lot of applications, the DCS-scrubber technology became state-of-the-art.
Due to the automation of the industrial air scrubbers from Wessel-Umwelttechnik, the operating effort is reduced to a minimum. If necessary, absorbents (e.g. acid or caustic soda) are added automatically by means of pH value monitoring. Also the scrubber product is discharged automatically with the use of conductivity or density determination.

Subsequent installation in existing industrial systems is possible at any time. Retrofitting to increase the performance of existing exhaust air purification systems is feasible without much effort.

The aim of the chemical scrubber is to bring the exhaust air stream into contact with water droplets as comprehensively as possible. The pollutants are transferred from the gas phase into the water phase and subsequently get into the washing water. The so-called chemisorption is achieved through the use of absorbents (acids or caustic soda), i.e. the exhaust air components are converted into compounds that remain in the water phase. In order to prevent oversaturation of the water phase, scrubber product is automatically dispensed.
If smells are to be removed in addition to pollutants, combined systems consisting of gas scrubbers and biological filters or bio scrubbers are often the right choice.
